Q. How long does installation take?
A. Typical installation takes less than 5 minutes. No restart is needed to activate the application.

Q. I had to download the ‘.NET Framework’: Is this a common step everyone must take – or is this step required because my PC is dated?
A. Most users, who are running Windows Vista OS or Windows XP, will already have the up-to-date version of the .NET framework required to run the application (no additional step required). Some users with slightly older versions of the framework will require an update from Microsoft before the install can proceed. In such cases, this minor step should be completed just a few minutes and then normal installation of the Cisco VNI PC pulse application can proceed.

Q. Why does the application show ‘zero’ values when I first install/open it? Is it working properly?
A. The application currently measures daily activity. When you first download the application, you will start at a ‘zero’ baseline. However, after the first 24 hours, the appropriate values will begin to appear within the application tabs (All Content, Web, and Video) based on your daily PC activities.

Q. Is this application capturing any of my personal information?
A. No. This application does not store or track any personal or identifiable information about you or the content you view or download. The only data that the application captures is ‘content type’ (video, web, other). This data is reported aggregately for all users (i.e., World AVG, World High, and World Low), not by individual.

Q. Where can I find definitions of the elements that this application is tracking (All Content vs. Web vs. Video)?
A. On the main screen of the application, click on the ‘I’ icon (for information) at the bottom of the screen for detailed descriptions of these three content types.

Q. Will this application negatively impact other applications I run on my computer?
A. No, this application was designed to require the minimal amount of processor resources and not interfere with other applications. As such, it will not have any noticeable impact on your user experience or your computer (processing speed/performance) regardless of the applications that you run on it.

Q. Are there any fees associated with downloading this application?
A. No, this is free application from Cisco.

Q. Is there any way for me to know how many people around the world are using this application?
A. Cisco will publicly issue periodic updates as to the total number of users. Future revisions of the application’s graphical user interface will be designed to provide global user information.

Q. How can I stop the background application?
A. To stop the background application, please follow these simple steps: (1) Open the Control Panel to browse to Administrative Tools; (2) Double-click the Services icon; (3) Look for the ‘Cisco VNI PC Pulse’ service; (4) Select it and; (5) Click the ‘Stop’ button at the top of the services window.
